jk: If you insist, BB. Or 33, if we decide to use the Russian alphabet (as in Robert's new username).

the captain: You know the main thing about going to shows these days? I'm fucking tired at work the next day now. For that, I miss being in my 20s ... and 30s, for that matter.
Aug 16, 2017 21:30:11 GMT
ScarolineZ: Ditto to all of that, Captain. I've actually started using vacation days on the day of/after so that I can go to shows during the week and not be a waster at work the next day. I've used so many I don't have much left to plan a Christmas holiday now, LOL.
Aug 16, 2017 22:32:51 GMT
the captain: I do some of that, too. Though honestly I just don't go to as many shows as I used to. Not even close, really. There was a time it was maybe 1-3 a week. Now it's more like 3 a year.

ScarolineZ: My show attendance seems to be ramping up rather than down. I used to be content to just do weekend shows but lately it seems like I'd better just see the bands I want to see while I can.
Aug 16, 2017 22:42:18 GMT
the captain: I wish I had that kind of motivation! But conversely, even bands I love, the day before or of many shows, I dread the whole bother of it all. (I usually end up having a great time.)
Aug 16, 2017 22:48:50 GMT
ScarolineZ: Ah yes, the dreaded realization that you've gone and made plans, when you had the option to not make plans, LOL.

kds: That's kind of my attitude towards shows, especially weeknight ones, but once the show starts, I'm glad I went.
Aug 17, 2017 12:20:07 GMT
the captain: Glad I'm not the only one.
Aug 18, 2017 13:36:15 GMT
kds: I'm driving to see Deep Purple and Alice Cooper this coming Wednesday. If this weren't likely my only chance to see Purple live, there's no way in hell I'd be going.
Aug 18, 2017 13:46:06 GMT
the captain: I don't think I have any shows lined up for a month or two, when I'm seeing Iron & Wine.
Aug 18, 2017 13:56:43 GMT
kds: I have this one, and UFO / Saxon at the end of September, and that's it for awhile.

Will Harris: Luther, did you see the Iron and Wine Pichfork show today from NYC? 50 minutes, with some nice oldies. He had a band. Should still be up. There are some clips up on youtube from his solo Housing Works bookstore show on Wednesday.
Aug 19, 2017 3:47:12 GMT
Will Harris: Just checked. It's up on youtube. Hope it stays there. Been reading with amusement your cooling on the concert scene comments. I rarely go to live shows, but have arranged to be in NYC for a few days in November to see Sam's two first-leg enders.
Aug 19, 2017 3:57:14 GMT
Will Harris: The first one is at Town Hall, so there might be some grey hair at that, but the next night is at Brooklyn Steel, a new club that attracts a young crowd. I hope he brings an electric guitar along, and in a rowdy mood.
Aug 19, 2017 4:05:03 GMT
Will Harris: The bookstore show crowd was youngish. Town Hall is an old classic theatre like The Beacon. Brooklyn Steel, I'll be up on my feet all night - no seating, general admission, and big(over 1,500). Bet I'll be the oldest cat in the place!
Aug 19, 2017 4:16:36 GMT
the captain: Hey Will. I didn't see the I&W Pitchfork show but will check it out. Thanks.

Sheriff John Stone: In the Recent Threads section it lists - What's your favorite Johnny Cash song? by garychesteriswell - but I can't find the thread or post.

Will Harris: Morning, So far looks like Sam is on the easy over side. All acoustic with a bit of gentle rockin'. That section of his fan base is getting what they want. He even did "Monkeys Uptown" in an easy rollin' style. I want some Rock and Jazz!
Aug 19, 2017 14:39:44 GMT
the captain: Most everyone I know who like I&W strongly prefers that earliest stuff, the mostly acoustic music. Me, I would take Shepherd's Dog all day long. I'd love to see a full band playing the gamut.
